As much as I hate to say this, summer is almost over. Not that it makes a difference to us post-grad, real life adults anyway. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, summer is the season to chill out and dress like you don’t give a crap – even though we all know you do.
So, how do you keep your sense of style with less clothing? Easy, pick key garments and focus on the details.
In the summer, you gotta keep it simple, which means accessories play a key role in making you look cool. It doesn’t matter if you are wearing a plain white tee with denim shorts and sneakers, if you wear oversized earrings, a cute and discreet necklace and a kick ass pair of sunglasses, you are going to look ‘effortlessly cool’ 😎.
Hair is key
Since summer outfits are usually super simple, hair also plays a key role in making you look good. Run to your favorite hair stylist and get a trendy trim, honey highlights or a total makeover. You also need to take into consideration that getting highlights and an expensive haircut won’t make you instantly look like a celebrity. You gotta spend some time doing your hair every morning – at least 30 minutes. Beauty takes time.
Invest in a good purse
This makes a whole lot of a difference in your outfit. We all love purses – small, large, backpack style, you name it. Just make sure you invest in a good quality purse every now and then so you don’t have to stick to the same one for months. Variety in accessories is essential!
Are you even wearing makeup?
I have a love/hate relationship with makeup. I absolutely love spending my money on makeup, but I am super lazy and don’t really wear a lot of it on a daily basis. During the summer, you won’t want to wear a lot of makeup, and if you do, try to make it seem as if you’re not wearing any. This tutorial is one of my favorites to get a natural, dewy look for the summer.
“Any woman can wear a great outfit, but it’s her nails that make the statement.” – Tammy Taylor.
Until last year, I totally underestimated the importance of having your nails done. You might not think it’s important, but pretty nails definitely enhance your confidence and overall look.
SALE, SALE, SALE
Besides family trips, Netflix and chill, barbecuing with friends and staying up until dawn, midyear sales are one of my favorite summer things. A lot of people hate shopping during this time because it’s absolutely crazy, but let me tell you it’s totally worth it. You can find great deals and save up to 70% off your purchases. If you value your money, and want to get more clothes for less, give it a chance. It’s like a sport 🏀.
